Bengal in Ranji Trophy: Bengal has taken steps towards victory against Himachal Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy match being played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. On the basis of the brilliant performance of all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed, Bengal has taken steps towards victory. Shahbaz has performed brilliantly with both bat and ball and now Bengal has taken a lead of 269 runs till the end of the second day’s play.
Shahbaz performed brilliantly in bowling after making a brilliant contribution of 49 runs in Bengal’s first innings. Shahbaz took five wickets for 32 runs in 13 overs and on the basis of his bowling, Bengal bundled out Himachal’s first innings for only 130 runs. Bengal had scored 310 runs in the first innings and got a significant lead of 180 runs by getting rid of Himachal cheaply. In the second innings, Bengal scored 89 runs in 19 overs at the loss of one wicket.
Shahbaz made his international debut this year itself.
Shahbaz was included in the Indian team for the first time after performing brilliantly for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2022. In October, Shahbaz made his ODI debut against South Africa. He has played three ODIs so far in which he has registered three wickets. In international matches, Shahbaz got a chance to play only four balls in which he could not open his account. The 28-year-old all-rounder Shahbaz made his IPL debut in 2020 and has achieved a lot of success in a short span of time.
